Bed Bugs in Bed

Once thought to be eradicated they have been making a comeback since the late eighties to early nineties. This resurgence is being blamed on the banning of DDT in the seventies. It is believed that the residual effect of DDT helped to rid the country of bed bugs. Many of the stronger chemicals that were used in earlier years have been banned due to their effects on animals and people.
So how can you tell if those are bed bugs in bed with you?
It can be hard to tell unless you know what to look for, the chance of seeing a bed bug during the day is slim. Bed bugs are nocturnal doing their feeding in the early morning. By the time you are up and around they have scurried off to a crack in your headboard or nightstand, maybe in the seam of you mattress. The best way to see them is to have a flashlight handy and to throw the covers back around three or four in the morning and shine the light on the bed. If you see a small brown bud scurry away it could be a bed bug.
An inspection can also tell if those are bed bugs in bed with you.
Pull back you covers from your mattress and look in the seams of it. Do you see stains and small bugs in the seam? There may also be dead skins from the nymphs molting mixed in with dead bed bugs. Look in the cracks of you headboard and bed frame for the same mix of skins stains and dead bed bugs. If these signs are present it is a good chance you have an infestation of bed bugs.
